although hardly used for its intended purpose anymore, it was created for pocket watches. you clip it to a belt loop, it had a short chain, then you tuck the little pocket watch right into its home! =)

If it's an old style wind-up type, you'll need to have it repaired in a watch shop. Otherwise, you probably just need to replace the battery.
